It’s hard to know what to write. It’s been a long time since I last looked at this site. Months, in fact.

So why the silence? Simple. I thought I had it all sorted.
Graduated.
New job, new comic.
Done with the learning.
A fresh start.

Turns out I was wrong. Oh, so wrong.

So yeah, we’re back. Back into old habits, old clothes, old haunts.

Not to brag, but this job is pretty sweet.

I’m at my huge, shiny work desk in front of my huge, shiny workstation computer drinking black coffee from a huge, shiny mug, poured by a shiny silver coffee-robot.

Things. Have. Changed.

There is no more late,late nights, no more shift-work, no more Pouring Beers For Money. Hooray! However, I only have 2 hours every day when I can draw – on the train on the way to and from work. Add to this some difficulties with hardware – my old laptop is dying again – and it becomes apparent that my comic making is suffering.

So, uh, sorry for lack of communication. Sorry for lack of comic. Sorry for extreme hugeness of comic.

Sorry for everything.  THINGS HAVE CHANGED.

You, dear reader, are a fantastic human being. Here you are, reading this rant even though I have not posted for just over two weeks. Your attention humbles me and I thank you.

So, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World has been witnessed. It now joins the exclusive list of One Of The Best Movies I Have Ever Seen. GO SCOTT, GO!

Expendables is pretty good too, I guess.

I-I’m kind of working on stuff. This other project is really kind of exciting, for me at least. So I’m spending a lot of time on it in the hopes that, eventually, it will become good enough for me to show the rest of the world but until then I’m afraid of talking about it in case it turns out to be horrible and no one likes it.

So, ah… why the hell am I talking about it?

You heard nothing. NOTHING.

If the above statement is true, then I’m due some horns sproutin outta my damn forehead right about… now.

This last month has seen me do a helluva lot. Skiing (much easier than snowboarding) for a week, attending 6 different job interviews (fingers crossed, people!), working 50ish hour weeks and drawing several panels a day for other projects… and yet, for some reason I feel compelled to draw you all a strip.

Do you feel honored? Well?  Do you?

Unfortunately this state of affairs is set to continue for the next few weeks. I’m running myself ragged trying to get money up for bills, doing guest art and portfolio pieces and stuff. And while I’m doing this, my damned brain keeps nagging at me to go do something else, anything else!

Is there a term for that?

Anyway, I won’t let it win. My future depends on it. I won’t let it win.

The other night, after a particularly thirst-inducing bar shift, I went out with people from work. It was Good Times but the end result was that I didn’t see the insides of my eyelids for just shy of 40 hours. Whilst delirious from sleep deprivation, this popped into my head.

Motivational Comic!

I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to you, dear reader, for the massive lack of comic goodness in recent times. I mean, really apologise. It’s been a month! However there are reasons why this has occurred.

First and foremost, I have been busy hunting down more permanent forms of employment. More money + stable hours = more comic-making productivity.

Secondly I have been working in the bar lots. Double shifts are good for the wallet, true, but they eat comic-making time like… like graduates produce second-rate metaphors?

Third up, I’ve been focusing on several… other… projects. I will tell you more on this when I can say more. Rest assured, however, that they are very exciting!

Aaaaaand that’s all the excuses I have.

Drinking soy milk is becoming something of a… a  thing.  You know how it is. People just start doing it. Then others join in, they want to be part of the crowd and hey that’s cool! But doing something to be accepted is one thing; actively enjoying said thing is entirely different.

I mean, telling your family and friends that you are a soy-drinker is pretty much par for the course – whereas telling them you like it is a wholly different experience. There are the searching glances, the clenched jaws, the unasked questions: How did this happen? Was it the way we raised him? What does this mean for “us”?

Hopefully, common sense would prevail and… well, there’s meant to be a punchline here. But it’s late and I have an interview tomorrow.

Hey, it happens. Drunk guys frequently bemoan the troubles they encounter when trying to meet women. Rarely do they pause to reflect on their inebriated approach – if they did perhaps they might be more successful… I guess? I don’t know.  I’m not an expert.
