A short selection of questions received on a semi-regular basis
Q Are the people in Zero Effort real? Are they based on real people?
A They were, once. As the strip has progressed they’ve sort of taken on a life of their own.
Q How do you make the comics? What’s the process?
A That’s a difficult question. I tend to muck around with the art, play with brushes and filters and such. The basic process is as follows: sketch out scenes using a crappy A4 visual diary and a clutch pencil, ink sketches using a brush tip pen, scan the lines, consume caffeine like it was water, then colour using one of several legally obtained copies of graphic manipulation software (illustrator and photoshop)
Q Can I be in your comic?
A I don’t know. Maybe. Do I know you? Are you funny?
Q Can I use a strip inĀ a newsletter/forum/a play for my amateur drama club?
A Sure! That’d be awesome. All I ask is that you tell people where you got it from.
Q Do you sell t-shirts/mugs/prints/miscellaneous merchandise?
A At this stage, no. Someday, maybe, I do have some designs floating around, but they are far from finished!
Q I like your comic so much I want to give you money.
A More of a statement than a question, but thank you! To be honest, I do this strip for fun. As such, if you really feeld driven to help the bestest thing I could have you do is to show it to some like-minded individuals.
